Job Description

A large medical device manufacturing company is hiring a Senior Manager of Site Excellence in Sparks, Maryland. This person will report to the Manufacturing Operations Excellence Director and should be passionate about working with the Plant Leadership Teams to create a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement across the network through excellence initiatives.

This strong operational excellence and continuous improvement identity will be created through the systematic application of LEAN production and CI principles, methodologies, and associated tools, to ensure sustainable optimization of performance in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead company Excellence capability development at a manufacturing site
  • Focus primarily on initiatives to improve Plant’s operational performance.
  • Ensures all plants in scope have 3-year funnel, delivering required impact annually in CI.
  • Mentors/coaches plant managers.
  • This position works closely with plant leadership, plant OPEX managers, finance, category managers and other CTW leadership to ensure CTW savings are realized.
  • Help shape and deploy BD Excellence roadmap, coordinate and/or lead specific breakthrough Kaizen events and /or initiatives to achieve the Plant’s targeted performance improvement through the practical application of Lean Tools and Principles.
  • Conducts periodic review of KPIs and actions for all plants.
  • Will facilitate and coach plant associates as required to ensure performance goals are achieved.
  • On-site coaching and assessments as required.
  • Conducts Zero Loss Workshops as required.
  • Help site leadership teams create strategic vision, ensure alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs’) top down and bottom up.
  • Lead focused improvement efforts at key sites / to support critical initiatives (e.g., drive OEE, OLE) or other critical projects.
  • Target multiple breakthrough events each year.
  • Challenge existing paradigms, help accelerate impact of key initiatives.
  • Support global component centers-of-excellence (COEs).
  • Help develop standards and best practices.
  • Optimize methodologies for different manufacturing technologies.
  • Develop and leverage best practices, drive best practice development and adoption.
  • Ensure deploying sites establish and maintain appropriate component KPIs, maintain and promote visibility of global component impact.
  • Support maturity assessment program across multiple business units.
  • Owns and drives the process to collaborate with the manufacturing Business Units and other functional departments to generate and maintain a multiyear portfolio of plant related operational cost saving projects based on Zero Loss to meet plant objectives.
  • Proactively leads multiple teams to the desired results.
  • Prioritizes cost savings projects.
  • Manages to savings and timeline completion.

Qualification:

  • Minimum 8 years of manufacturing experience in a plant environment, with over 3-years of demonstrated experience leading a manufacturing unit with accountability for operational results, inclusive of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Hands-on experience leading large teams, developing and mentoring manufacturing associates to drive results by focusing on production, associate capability development and ownership.
  • Advanced set of skills in Continuous Improvement and has direct experience in leading the application of LEAN production.
  • Initiates and drives change to ensure that short and long term SQDC goals for the lines / areas under responsibility are being met.
  • BA/BS Degree – Required – Science, Industrial management, Business, Engineering or a related field.

Salary of $150K annually + bonus, stock, and full health benefits
