Position Summary:

The HR Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of the human resources function, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, and compliance. This role will also play a critical part in nurturing a mindful, values-driven organizational culture that supports both operational excellence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand staffing needs and attract mission-aligned candidates.
  • Employee Relations:
  • Foster a respectful and open work environment through conflict resolution, coaching, and regular communication.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to staff and leadership on HR matters.
  • Policy & Compliance:
  • Ensure HR policies are up to date and compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Performance Management:
  • Implement and oversee performance review processes.
  • Support leadership in identifying development needs and implementing growth plans.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
  • Administer employee benefits programs and provide guidance on compensation strategies.
  • Evaluate and recommend wellness incentives aligned with the Center’s values.
  • Culture & Engagement:
  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and conscious workplace culture.
  • Organize team-building and staff wellness activities in harmony with the Center's mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (HR certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Passion for wellness, mindfulness, or spiritual growth is a plus.
  • Ability to work on-site at the retreat center in Boone, NC.

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience in or deep hands-on knowledge of the wellness industry, including meditation, breathwork, yoga and Ayurveda.
