Job Description

As a Field Service Technician – QCS , you’ll be responsible for executing service work in accordance with ABB’s safety and quality standards for our Quality Control Systems (QCS) . You’ll play a critical role in delivering exceptional service and supporting long-term customer success.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform field service activities—both remotely and on-site—within your certified service categories.
  • Plan and execute service tasks based on customer orders, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of work.
  • Communicate proactively with customers, keeping them informed on timelines, expectations, and project updates.
  • Identify improvement opportunities while on-site to enhance system performance and eliminate customer pain points.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using electrical drawings and test equipment to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Prepare and manage material lists, ensuring that all necessary parts, tools, and equipment meet quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related technical field and 2+ years of experience in electrical/electronics, instrumentation, or process control (including military experience)
  • OR
  • High school diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant work or military experience
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude with a basic understanding of electrical theory and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings to troubleshoot systems up to 240 VAC / 870 VDC
  • Proficient with electrical test tools such as voltmeters and multimeters
  • Strong customer service mindset with clear communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 15% for training or to support other customer sites as needed
  • Must be able to safely identify and work around high-voltage systems (above 240 VAC / 870 VDC)
