Senior Tax Accountant – Corporate & State Compliance (Oil & Gas)

Employment Type: Contract through 11/21/2025 (High potential for extension)

Location: Houston, TX, United States (100% Onsite)

Position Overview:

Enbridge, a leader in the North American energy sector, is currently seeking a Senior Tax Analyst with deep expertise in corporate income tax compliance. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring U.S. federal and state tax obligations are met across multiple entities. Ideal candidates will bring industry-specific knowledge, particularly within oil & gas, and a sharp eye for tax optimization and reporting accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file complex federal and state corporate income tax returns, including partnerships and consolidated groups.
  • Handle foreign reporting obligations including Form 5471, and support Subpart F and GILTI computations.
  • Develop and review state apportionment schedules and franchise tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual tax estimates and related payments.
  • Calculate tax depreciation and analyze fixed asset activity using BNA or equivalent software.
  • Assist with the coordination and review of the consolidated U.S. income tax return process.
  • Track and interpret legislative updates impacting the energy sector and advise on implications.
  • Collaborate with accounting teams using ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud, HFM) to ensure accurate financial data flow into tax systems.
  • Prepare and reconcile tax basis balance sheets and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Support e-filing procedures and submission processes across federal and state platforms.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and support digital transformation within the tax function.
  • Mentor junior analysts and share best practices across the tax team.

Preferred Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in U.S. corporate tax compliance, ideally in the oil & gas or energy infrastructure sector.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and multi-state corporate tax regulations.
  • Experience with Corptax, BNA Fixed Assets, and leading tax research platforms.
  • Working understanding of tax accounting principles and deferred tax calculations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multi-entity tax filings.

Organizational Scope & Reporting:

  • Reports to the U.S. Tax Manager.
  • Interfaces regularly with Regulatory, Accounting, and IT teams.
  • Provides technical tax input across corporate functions and supports interactions with external auditors and consultants.
