Job Description

To provide a Public Health Nurse. This individual will be in the Center for Acute Infectious Disease Epidemiology (CAIDE) and will primarily support the Project Firstline Team, who conducts virtual and in-person education for employees of various healthcare facilities. This individual may also be cross trained to conduct outbreak investigations and evaluation at healthcare facilities, and/or perform routine surveillance of reportable infectious diseases.

Responsibilities

Activities may include but are not limited to:

• Developing power point presentations on various infection control topics
• Presenting infection control content on webinars
• Presenting infection control content in person at healthcare facilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of infection control and infection prevention
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Good communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Ability to be flexible and adjust to a changing workflow
• Valid driver's license and willingness to drive personal vehicle to field visits
• Willingness to conduct a field visit to a facility that may be experiencing an outbreak
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Extensive experience collaborating with other teams/groups
• Ability to work in a professional team environment, as well as independently
• Bilingual- English/Spanish

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
• Active nursing license in the state of Rhode Island
• At least two years of experience in infection control and prevention
• Certification in infection control and prevention preferred

Position: Hybrid (2 days in office; Travel required- several times per month to community sites as needed)
