Johnson County Community College Position, Department: Art Exhibition Technician, Advancement & Government Affairs
Type of Position: Part-time Temporary, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs, 12 hours per week
Pay Range: $15.95-$20.31 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Assist with all technical aspects of art handling concerning installation, de-installation, packing, unpacking, and storage of art objects for the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art under the direction of the Chief Preparator.
Required Qualifications: - Mid-level support role.
- Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.
- Typically requires at least 1 year of related experience.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to: - Support museum staff in the daily care, maintenance, and upkeep of museum exhibits and exhibit components and support other teams as needed.
- Install and disassemble permanent and temporary exhibits.
- Conduct daily maintenance for exhibits and perform appropriate repairs for proper exhibit operation.
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve technical issues and find creative resolutions to problems that occur.
- Participate in the construction, installation, and disassembly of art installations and exhibition displays using various materials, tools, equipment, and instruments.
- Prepare and clean exhibition site locations prior to installation.
- Transport and store pieces of art and exhibition components to their proper storage location.
- Pack and unpack components of art exhibits following defined departmental procedures and standards.
- Observe departmental safety practices and procedures and maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Assist in positioning signage and lights in the exhibition areas.
